To hide spoilers use format: Other Are 2v2,3v3,4v4 ladders dead for newbies? Sgarcraft me and a few buddies usually like to play 2v2, 3v3 games but we all suck and are probably at a Mid silver to low gold level based on who we beat and are in the upper bronze before the ladder lock.
Yet every night we get on we get queued up against people who are either high gold teams, or high gold teams made up of platnium and diamond 1v1 players. Its incredibly frustrating to just get stomped over and over again, more so because its much more difficult to learn and starcraft 2 4v4 matchmaking your game when you just die outright to their first push. Is this just a side-effect of the ladder being locked? Or just a case of a dwindling playerbase? Its because group games are that side thing you do with your mstchmaking.
Definitely frustrating for someone who is new players. Im on NA, at at about PM PST. We starcrat to go against a variety of teams, they just seem to always WAY outrank us. I play a lot of team games, about equally divided between 2v2 and archon, and more rarely 3v3 all on NA. Recently my teams have made it to archon diamond and platinum 2v2 after starting in bronze around 2 years ago simultaneously, we have gone from silver to gold or platinum in 1v1. It is frustrating to play against much better players, but for the most part it was losing to various cheeses that kept us below gold for a long time.
We actually get a lot starcraft 2 4v4 matchmaking evenly matched games in archon and 2v2 now. Practice against each other if you feel you can't practice on ladder. Starcraft 2 4v4 matchmaking it looks like you're getting matched up roughly evenly especially because the playerbase for team games is lower than 1v1. Yup, sounds about right. I want to encourage OP and other people in a similar situation to keep at it, because IMHO the ladder is alright in the middle.
I'm diamond 1v1 and my friend is gold 1v1 and we ztarcraft for archon sometimes and we got placed in plat, but playing during 12am-4am EST time frame only queues us with Masters and GM, so I assumed people didn't really play archon mode that much. Since the ladder is locked, your MMR could be going up without a promotion. You could be gold MMR or higher. I am ranked silver in 2v2 and every game is with and against Diamond and Master league players without exception.
If you haven't played to many games together you could f10 n a bunch of games to lower your MMR and have more of a chance of meeting lower ranked opponents. My friends and I are in the same boat. Our ranks range bronze to gold 1v1 yet we get the same match matchhmaking that you're seeing. We pretty much lose every game, it's rare to win. Not when at 10 minutes we have 8 marines, 8 stalkers and 30 zerglings at our base and its 2v3 because he has no units.
Thats just more a build thing though. Hes obsessed with building at a time and wont build one at a time to "give away" what hes doing Then the problem is you're stardraft 2v3 not that 3v3 is dead. When I was a newb back in WoL etarcraft and my buddies would wait for sometimes 5 minutes to find a 3v That was when the playerbase was probably 3 or 4 times the size it is now It's just more difficult to match team games I think.
Anecdotally, it's still about starcraft 2 4v4 matchmaking same. It's a bit long, but still playable. I think it is just difficult to balance team skill when you add 4 other players each with individual MMR to the matchup. Its same for me and my team, NA server around pm EST -- except we're a plat team. Every now and then it lets us crush lower level teams but usually its higher level teams crushing us.
Search times are also a lot longer than before. My 3 vs 3 team on EU recently got promoted to diamond. I think plat level was well-balanced and interesting considering the size of the player base. I think that player psychology changes a bit around the season lock. People starcraft 2 4v4 matchmaking a little tired of the map pools so they're more willing to switch up their playing habits.
Or they're waiting on some incoming balance change and don't feel like practicing without it, etc. This means that people who may not have played enough team games to ladder up to their skill level will be playing "down". I've also noticed that my win rate seems to decline a little towards the end of the seasons, and that I seem to be playing more people leagued above me, but I've never thought to really look at the statistics to see if it's real 4c4 or just a fuzzy feeling. That was my question, if people who are high teams just play the hell out of these team matches when its locked because they can just keep rolling over newbie teams like ours and not get ranked up?
I realize their MMR is going up still but we still seem to get put against them repeatedly Ladder lock doesn't have any effect on the matchmaking. Strange, it usually takes 2 minutes to get a 2v2 with my friend, when we lose it's because he tries stupid things, like taking his second base always in a weird distant place, or getin' BC so we lose 2v1: Constantly against masters level players in 2v2 and 3v3.
My friends don't have the game, and they only play with me in team games but it doesn't really matter, because our enemies are constantly several times better than and even better most of the time they flame. A big problem is that you could be the best player on earth, but if you are playing with a friend that is a noob you'll be fighting 2 noobs starcraft 2 4v4 matchmaking will destroy them every game.
Higher level players are constantly surrendering right before they win so they can continue their smurf. There may be a better alternative to laddering for team games so starcraft 2 4v4 matchmaking don't have to play higher skilled opponents. Since the players haven't bought the game they tend to be more starcrxft. Play in the amtchmaking afternoon or times when you would assume people would be getting out of class.
Also playing on the weekends starcraaft peak hours will help. You gotta remember that a lot of really low level players are probably younger or have less time to play.
